Marjorie Cunningham, 80, died Monday morning, April 1 at the Powell Nursing Home.
Funeral services and burial will be Friday in Lincoln, Nebr.

Harold W. (Whitey) Hopkin ~ April 3, 2002

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Powell for Harold W. (Whitey) Hopkin, 74, who died unexpectedly Thursday, April 3 in Denver, Colo., while enjoying a last dance with his beloved wife, Alyce.
He was born May 17, 1927, to Frederick William and Elizabeth Wilson Hopkin in Penrose. He attended school in Powell, graduating from high school in 1945.
During the summers when he was in high school, he spent time helping his father on their cattle ranch in the Bull Mountains of Montana. He treasured the time with his father, working with the animals in the mountains.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1947 and was stationed in Guam. On returning home, he married Alyce Marie Hardee on Aug. 13, 1947. Later the marriage was solemnized in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple.
The couple settled in Penrose where they farmed and ranched until 1983. After retiring, he spent many years, during the summer months, in the Pryor Mountains, working on the Shively Ranch and making friends with the guests at the "working ranch."
He served on the board of Garland Light & Power Company, the Wyoming Rural Electric board and as a director of the Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc.
A true Wyoming Cowboy, he enjoyed riding his horses, singing a song, sketching, leatherworking, telling a good joke and dancing with Alyce. He was always willing to lend a hand, and many people benefitted from his kindness.
As a member of the LDS Church, he held many leadership and teaching positions, was an ordinance worker in the Billings, Montana Temple and enjoyed singing in church choirs.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Alyce; his four sons, Thayne Hopkin and wife Brenda of West Valley City, Utah, Kurt Hopkin and wife Karen of Cody, Byrne Hopkin and wife Cindy of Bountiful, Utah, H. Vince Hopkin and wife Linda of Cody; his daughter, Jocelyn Frame and husband Kim of Powell; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his brother, Burchell Hopkin and wife Ruby of Powell; sisters Mary Simian, Fay Smith and Zona Roper, all of Powell; and sister-in-law Dorcas Hopkin of Lovell. His parents and brother Fredrick Hopkin preceded him in death.
Viewing will be prior to the services from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the LDS Church. Burial will be at the Penrose Cemetery.

Msgr. Daniel B. Carroll ~ April 3, 2002

Mass of Christian Burial for Msgr. Daniel B. Carroll was celebrated Monday at St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Powell where he was parish priest for 27 years.
Msgr. Carroll died Wednesday, April 3 at the Powell Nursing Home, having lived 93 years faithful to God and nearly 65 years of faithful ministry as a priest.
He was born Oct. 17, 1909, in Providence, R.I. He was the youngest of five children, and the only son, born to Daniel and Elizabeth Carroll. He attended St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore, Md., and was ordained to the priesthood on May 1, 1937, in Trenton, N.J.
While listening to Bishop McGovern speak at St. Mary's Seminary about his Wyoming Diocese, Msgr. Carroll became extremely interested in Wyoming. In a conference with Bishop McGovern, arrangements were made, and Msgr. Carroll came to St. Joseph's Orphanage in Torrington on June 1, 1937.
He assisted for two years, 1938 to 1940, in Holy Name Parish in Sheridan. Msgr. Carroll's first pastorate was St. Thomas Parish in Monarch, Wyo. He was transferred to Pine Bluffs in 1942, remaining there until 1948 when he assumed the pastorate of St. Barbara's Parish in Powell, which included the mission church, Our Lady of the Valley, near Clark.
Msgr. Carroll served St. Barbara's Parish until June of 1975 when he became pastor at St. Francis in Thermopolis. He retired on Aug. 21, 1979.
At that time, he moved to Greybull where he lived with his two sisters, Mae and Helen. After their deaths, he moved into a house in Greybull until Msgr. Meyer died in 1991. At that time, Msgr. Carroll moved to Powell and lived in the Powell Nursing Home.
During Msgr. Carroll's time as pastor of St. Barbara's in Powell, he was instrumental in constructing the following facilities: the rectory, the parish center and a new church, and also a church was constructed at Our Lady of the Valley in Clark. He also purchased a convent which was used by the Sisters of Victory Noll.
On March 15, 1974, Rev. Msgr. Daniel B. Carroll received investiture as Prelate of Honor to His Holiness Pope Paul VI by His Excellency Most Rev. Hubert M. Newell, DD, Bishop of Cheyenne.
He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Tetrault, and the following nieces and nephews: Carol Ann Malloy, John Kennedy, Joseph Kennedy, Fr. Raymond Tetrault, Conrad Tetrault, Joseph Tetrault and Leon Tetrault. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Mary (Mae) Carroll, Helen Carroll and Kathleen Kennedy, and a niece, Irene Meenagh.
Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in Greybull.

Lola Belle Essex ~ April 4, 2002

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the First Southern Baptist Church for Lola Belle Essex, 70, who died Thursday, April 4 at the Powell Nursing Home.
Pastor Joe Reynolds officiated at services and burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 14, 1931, in Pawnee, Okla., to Russell Toler and Hope Tansey. She completed four years of college education to become an elementary school teacher.
She married Harry P. Essex in Powell on June 2, 1948, and they lived in Powell. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church and the Rebekahs.
Her hobbies included camping and reading.
She is survived by her husband Harry P. Essex of Powell; two sons and their wives, Russ and Carla Essex of Mobridge, S.D., and John and Jen Essex of Billings, Mont.; two daughters and their husbands, Melsene and Frank Villegas of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Hope and Joe Reynolds of Mobridge, S.D.; four sisters, Violet Lee (Buck) of Thermopolis, Elizabeth Stines (Gene) of Clarkston, Wash., Louise Wheqaton of Casper and Eleanor Martin (Fred) of California; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gordon Toler; and a sister, Marge Howell.
Pallbearers at the funeral were Ron Elwood, Ralph Wensky, Delbert Fetzer, Vern Groskop, Norm Manweiler and Bob Webber.

Janet Sprinkle Brownlee ~ April 6, 2002

Memorial services will be held at the Calvary Chapel Church in Buffalo at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20 for Janet Sprinkle Brownlee, former Powell resident who died Sunday, April 6. She was 65.
She was born Feb. 26, 1937, in Denver, Colo., daughter of Lee and Florence Sprinkle. A 1955 graduate of Wheatridge High School in Denver, she continued her education at the University of Wyoming, earning a major in education and a minor in psychology.
She met Fred Brownlee at UW, and they were married June 8, 1958, in Denver. Her husband's six-month army commission stint took them to Ft Benning, Ga., then on to Ft. Carson, Colo. In 1959, both Fred and Janet accepted teaching positions at Saratoga.
Their first child, Kevin, was born in Saratoga in 1960. Daughter Julie was born in Afton in 1963.
In Afton, her husband began a 34-year career with the U.S. Farmers Home Administration. Working for the government, the family lived in many Wyoming communities, including Powell, before retiring in Buffao.
She devoted herself to children, teaching piano lessons, Bible classes and helping with 4-H. Music was a special love for her, as she sang in choirs and groups. She said her greatest achievement in this life was to realize at age 18 that she was a sinner and thus her need of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Her Christian testimony remained strong to the end of her life, even as she battled cancer.
She loved the mountains and was able to spend many weeks each summer in the Big Horn Mountains in the family camper.
Survivors include her husband Fred of Buffalo; son Kevin Brownlee and wife Bunny of Belgrade, Mont.; daughter Julie Peter and husband Dennis of Arvada, Colo.; two brothers, Bob Sprinkle of Grand Junction, Colo., and Dale Sprinkle of Surry, Maine; and three grandchildren.
For those who wish, the family would appreciate memorials to Compassion International, in care of First National Bank, P.O. Box 400, Buffalo, WY 82834, or Allan and Baska Vance, in care of Conservative Baptist International, P.O. Box 5, Wheaton, IL 60189-0005 (serving in Portugal). Cremation has taken place. The family will scatter her ashes in the Big Horn Mountains.

Margaret Peyton ~ April 8, 2002

Word has been received of the April 8 death in Deadwood, S.D., of Margaret Peyton, 91.
She was the mother of Charles Peyton of Powell. Funeral services were held at Trinity Methodist Church in Lead, S.D., on April 12.

Hilda C. Moody ~ April 10, 2002

Hilda C. Moody, 96, died at the Powell Nursing Home Wednesday, April 10.
She was born Dec. 25, 1905, in Fayette County, Texas, to Harry and Selma (Lockman) Wiedemann. She attended Scott's School for grade school and then graduated from Flatonia High School in 1924.
She attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College and began her teaching career in Moalton, Texas. She taught and did college work alternately until she graduated in 1933.
She taught the next 10 years in Rosenberg, Texas. During World War II, she worrked for Petty Geophysical Company in Texas, then Oklahoma and Wyoming. She came to Powell in 1950.
She married Harold Moody on May 9, 1951. They bought a home on Avenue F and lived there until 1954 when her husband received a promotion to foreman in the Elk Basin oilfields, and they moved there. When the company houses were sold a few years later, they returned to Powell.
They were transferred to Worland in 1958, then returned to Powell in 1961 to the same house on Division Street that they left three years earlier. She remained in this house until just a few years ago.
Survivors include her sons, Gary Moody and wife Pat of Powell and Dennis Moody and wife Sue of Fort Myers, Fla.; grandchildren Shawn Moody and Treena Brown, both of Powell, and Gavin Moody and Alexis Peterson, both of Florida; and one great-granddaughter, Krystal Brown of Powell.
Cremation has taken place, with memorial services to be held at a later date. Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gary Dean Menuey ~ April 12, 2002

Gary Dean Menuey, 46, died Friday, April 12 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Mont., from complications associated with surgery.
Mr. Menuey was born in Powell on May 20, 1955, son of Forest and Alice Menuey. He lived in and around Powell for most of his life.
His favorite pasttime was working on his house in Lovell and working in his yard with his flowers in the summer. He took pride in his cooking as well.
He worked in many restaurants and hotels around the area, including the Hamilton House, Busy Bee, Skyline Cafe, Bear Lodge and his current place of employment, the Rose Bowl in Lovell, where his sister also works.
Survivors include his son, Christopher Menuey and four grandsons of Astoria, Ore.; his adopted son, Tim Ryan and wife Joby of Midwest, along with three grandchildren; his sister, Patty, in Lovell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1998 and his father in 1978 and his two brothers, Richard, in 1981 and Dave, in 1987.
Cremation has taken place. Private family memorial services will be held later.

Anita Loree Erickson ~ April 12, 2002

Anita Loree Erickson, age 61, passed away at the Powell Nursing Home on Friday, April 12, 2002. She was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on August 31, 1940 to Robert L. and Hilda B. (Sieber) Erickson. She worked for many years at Woolworth Five and Dime stores in Aberdeen.
She is survived by her mother, Hilda Erickson of Cody; husband Edmond Sigmon; brothers, Robert Erickson of Georgia, Mervin Erickson of North Carolina, Marvin Erickson of Garland, Wayne Erickson and David Erickson of Powell, Steven Erickson of Cowley; sisters, Verna Geldreich of Powell, Marlene Dressen of Cody and Marlys Riel of Cody; 2 daughters, Darlys Gabert of Rapid City, South Dakota and Anita Hagen of Texas; 2 grandsons and 3 granddaughters. Her father in 1979 and a brother Elwin Erickson preceded her in death. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place with memorial services to be held Tuesday, April 23, 2002, 3:30 p.m., at the American Legion Hall in Powell.

Louise L. Hawkins ~ April 13, 2002

Word has been received of the April 13 death in Garden City, Kans., of former Powell resident, Louise L. Hawkins, 77.
She was a native of Rock County, Wisc., and married Robert E. Hawkins on Nov. 3, 1945, at Janesville, Wisc.
She and her husband moved to a ranch near Powell in 1969, and she was employed with the then American National Bank. Her husband died June 29, 1992.
She moved to Garden City, Kans., in 1996. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, bird watching and being with her grandchildren.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Garden City and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 26 of Powell.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Hurst of Boulder, Colo.; two sons, James Hawkins of Garden City and Joseph Hawkins of Santa Maria, Calif.; one brother, two sisters, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Private family services were held. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 26.

Julia Ann Lindsay Bloomfield ~ April 14, 2002

Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday) at the Clearfield, Utah, LDS Stake Center for a former Powell resident, Julia Ann Lindsay Bloomfield.
She died Sunday, April 14 in Clearfield at the age of 80.
She was born on the family farm at Byron on May 17, 1921, the daughter of David Dunn and Sarah Bradshaw Lindsay. She was the sixth child in a family of seven and received her education in the Byron schools.
She married George Milan Bloomfield on Aug. 31, 1941, in Byron. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 9, 1942. He died Jan. 9, 1972, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in which she was seriously injured.
The couple made their home in Powell until 1965 when they moved to Utah. She worked at Miller Floral in Farmington, Utah, and at McKay -Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing, knitting, genealogy and doing things with her family. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served a Stake Mission while living in Wyoming and two Stake Missions in Utah.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Ann Baxter and husband Andrew of Layton, Utah; two sons, Gene Bloomfield of Utah and David William Bloomfield and wife Barbara of Clearfield, Utah; a brother, Wilson Lindsay of Powell; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Kaysville, Utah, Cemetery.

John R. Clark ~ April 17, 2002

John R. Clark of Winnett, Mont., father of a Powell woman, died Wednesday morning, April 17 at Deaconess Clinic in Billings, Mont., of pancreatic cancer. He was 63.
He was born in Red Lodge, Mont., on Nov. 9, 1938, a son to Erwin and Martha Clark. He was raised on the family ranch at Luther and educated in Luther and Red Lodge. Following his graduation from Carbon County High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served in the Pacific Theater as a radar man on the USS Hollister. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the family ranch.
He married Georgia Straight on July 25, 1961 in Red Lodge. Together they worked the family ranch. In 1993, they sold their ranch in Luther and started ranching in the Winnett area.
Mr. Clark loved to hunt and fish, but he especially loved to preach.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia; daughter Shannon Baker and her husband Daniel of Powell; three sons; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Cremation has taken place, and a Praise the Lord Celebration Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ, 10th St. and Alderson Ave. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Roundup Church of Christ, P.O. Vera Dunrud ~ April 19, 2002

Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 at Meeteetse's St. Andrew's Episcopal Church for Vera Dunrud, 100, a long-time Meeteetse resident who died April 19 at West Park Long Term Care Center, where she had lived for 13 years.
The Rev. Patterson Keller will officiate Wednesday's services. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 23 at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody from 6-8 p.m.
Dunrud was born Vera May Stahly Jan. 14, 1902 to Herman and Eura Stahly in Milford, Neb. She grew up there and in Goehner, Neb. After graduating and receiving Normal Training at Milford High School, she taught one year at a country school in the area.
In 1923 she came to Meeteetse to teach third and fourth grades at Meeteetse School. She lived with her sister, Luella Rumler, and her sister's husband, Silas Rumler. Later she boarded with the Curtis Sell family and then lived at the Meeteetse Hotel.
On June 19, 1929, she married Carl M. Dunrud in Billings, Mont. Carl's partner, Elmer Bergquist, and his wife Thelma were married the same day. The two couples continued dude ranching, which Carl and Elmer had begun on the Pitchfork Ranch Timber Creek Dude Ranch. In 1931, the couple purchased Kirwin and land six miles down the river where Carl Dunrud built the Double Dee Dude Ranch. There, Amelia Earhart and her husband, George P. Putnam, were among their guests.
During the war, in 1944, Dunrud taught her own three children and a few others at the Dick Creek School on the Wood River above Meeteetse, while Carl worked at the Larsen Ranch. In 1945, she and her husband purchased the Wolf place on the lower Greybull River. She taught school at Buffalo Basin, beginning in 1949, and then in Meeteetse when the two districts were consolidated. She taught there until her retirement in 1970.
After many hours of education by extension courses and summer school, Dunrud received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the University of Wyoming in 1962.
Next to her family, she most loved children and teaching. Teaching school, horseback riding, Saturday night dancing and making friends were, as she put it, "a lark."
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Eldon and Kenneth Stahly, sisters Fern Stahly, Luella Rumler and Leone Tolle, a baby daughter, a baby granddaughter, and her husband Carl.
She is survived by her children, Richard (and wife Toni) Dunrud of Evergreen, Colo.; James (and wife Joan) Dunrud of Meeteetse; and Mary D. Webster of Cody; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Memorials may be sent to the Meeteetse High School Scholarship Fund, to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, where Dunrud was a member, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

George C. McGary ~ April 21, 2002

George C. McGary, 72, died Sunday, April 21 in Powell after a long battle with cancer.
He was born May 10, 1929, on the family homestead near Deaver, the son of Willard and Clara McGary.
In 1947, he married Rosemary Sewald of Sterling, Colo. They made their home in Powell where they raised three children, Wanda Dolan and husband Mike of Cody, George Cole McGary and wife Sherry of Powell and Sandy Lynn of Powell; and five grandchildren, Nick, Breck and Lindsey McGary and Chad and Jody Lynn.
His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he rarely missed any of their activities.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Powell and recently received his 50-year membership pin.
While visiting with his large, extended family was his favorite way to spend his days, he also liked to hunt and fish and loved his trips into the high mountain passes. Every summer he enjoyed planting a large garden, but his real joy came in giving it all away to anyone who stopped for a visit.
At his request, there will be funeral services.

Donald E. Wheeler ~ April 22, 2002

Graveside services will be conducted today (Thursday) at 1 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery for Donald E. Wheeler, 86, who died Monday, April 22 at Powell Valley Hospital.
The Powell Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors for Mr. Wheeler, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was born Feb. 23, 1916, in Pearl, Ill., to Daley and Maggie (Smith) Wheeler. For many years he worked for Pan American Oil Company, later to become Amoco Production Co.
Survivors include his former spouse, Elizabeth Hazelhorst of Powell; two sons, Mike Wheeler of Powell and Donald Wheeler of Arizona; a daughter, Deborah Adams and husband Ken of Washington; two brothers, Forrest (Bud) Wheeler and wife Marge of Powell and Floyd Wheeler of Montana; and two sisters, Georgie Baldwin and husband Dick of Montana and Eileen Harmon and husband Marion of Powell. His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home.

Edna C. Young ~ April 23, 2002

Edna C. Young, 84, long-time Laramie resident, died with grace and dignity in the arms of her sons Tuesday, April 23 at the home of her eldest son, Floyd E. Young, Jr., in Powell.
She was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Longmont, Colo., daughter of Krestian and Bertha Johnson of Karvel, Colo. She married her long-time sweetheart and lifetime love, Floyd E. Young, Sr., in Greeley, Colo., on Jan. 24, 1936. The couple moved to Laramie in 1939 where her husband worked as a fireman for the Union Pacific Railroad and later as an engineer until his retirement.
She loved going to the prairie and collecting rock and artifacts with her three sons, Floyd, Alvin and Steve. She loved to commune with God on the Wyoming prairies, where she and husband Floyd were friends of local ranchers. She collected barb wire, insulators, antiques of all varieties and many railroad relics of the West. The fence at 703 Gibbon in Laramie is testimony to their love of railroading and their collection of western relics.
Survivors include her sons and their wives, Floyd and Virginia Young of Powell, Alvin and Gaela Young of Cheyenne and Steve and Peg Young of Rigby, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
An informal memorial service conducted by her sons will be held Friday, May 3 at Montgomery-Striker Chapel in Laramie at 2 p.m. Friends are invited.

Genevieve (Genny) Helgeson Romine ~ April 24, 2002

A service will be conducted at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) at First United Methodist Church in Powell for Genevieve (Genny) Helgeson Romine, 86, who died Wednesday, April 24 at Franklin United Methodist Community outside Indianapolis, Ind.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery with Powell Veterans Honor Guard according military honors.
She was born Nov. 10, 1915, at Garland, daughter of Charles F. and Eva (Epp) Helgeson. She graduated from Powell High School in 1935 and continued her education in Chicago, Ill., which would lead her to a career in nursing.
She was a graduate of Columbus Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago and went on to receive a bachelor's degree in public health nursing from Loyola University of Chicago and a master's degree in nursing education from Indiana University.
She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II. She served in New Guinea and Australia doing hospital duty.
She married W.T. Romine on June 17, 1946. He preceded her in death.
She was a Registered Nurse for more than 50 years, retiring in 1974 from Indiana University School of Nursing as an assistant professor of nursing.
She was a member of the Church of the Lakes (Nineveh) and First Methodist Church of Powell, American Legion Post 26 of Powell, and Sigma Theta Tau Honorary Nursing Society. She co-founded the retired Nurses Club of Indianpolis and was a charter member of the Navy Nurse Corps Association. She was a member of the Indiana University Alumni Association and a former member of the Indiana State Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association.
Survivors include a son, Paul C. Romine of Fishers, Ind.; a sister, Helen Harrington of Casper; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Helgeson.

Dora Armstrong Sump ~ April 25, 2002

Dora Armstrong Sump, a 66-year resident of the Powell area, died Thursday, April 25 at the Powell Nursing Home. She 92.
She had been a resident of the nursing home for three years. Prior to that, she had resided at Rocky Mountain Manor for 20 years.
She was born in Creston, Nebr., to Emmett and Lydia (Wilder) Armstrong on Aug. 5, 1909, one of 12 children. She married Eric Otto Sump on June 15, 1928.
In 1936, they moved to the Willwood area south of Powell, where they worked for various farmers in the area until moving into town. Mr. Sump died in 1978.
Survivors include three sons, Ron Sump and wife Jeanette of Powell, Bob Sump and wife Loretta of Billings, Mont., and Harold Sump of Las Vegas, Nev.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eric; one son, Richard; and all her brothers and sisters.
Cremation has taken place, and interment will be at Powell Crown Hill Cemetery at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday).

Delores Colleen Clarke ~ April 25, 2002

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the New Life Christian Fellowship Church in Powell for Delores Colleen Clarke, 48, who died Thursday, April 25 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
She was born Jan. 9, 1954, in Worland, daughter of Eldon and Colleen (Seiver) Short.
She was a graduate of Powell High School and attended one year of college. She married Lester Clarke on Aug. 31, 1979, in Casper. In Powell, she operated Dee's Day Care.
She enjoyed needlecraft, reading and genealogy. She served as a Brownie Leader for Troop 256 in Powell.
Survivors include her husband, Lester, of Powell; a daughter, Danielle, of Powell; her parents, Colleen and Eldon Short; her grandmother, Dorthy Short of Worland; four sisters and their husbands, Karen and Bud Boyles of Casper, Valerie and Frank Matiella of Powell, Leslie and James Kallem of Powell and Linda and Ben Davila of Cheyenne; nieces and nephews, Crystal, Cynthia, Dustin, Maggy, Jessica, Eric, Ashley, Vanessa, Jesse and B'Jay; great nieces and nephews, Britany, Alexandra, Joshua, Andrew and Preston; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special friend, Cherri Siebert.
She was preceded in death by two grandfathers, a grandmother, an aunt and a niece.
Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery.
