The Pride of Powell
One of the unquestioned jewels of Powell and Park County is gleaming once again.
Northwest College, as one letter writer notes today, is a superb source of cultural enlightenment.
From its many art exhibits, concerts and events like
this past weekend’s
Multicultural Day, the college offers
a quality of life many communities can only envy.
Now comes the college forensic team with just a stunning win in national competition.
A win not only for the
team, but the community as a whole.
The NWC forensics team is a study in excellence and has
been for many years. This year’s team should be an
even bigger source of pride for us all. Their many achievements are the result
of hard work and much talent
not only students and faculty, but an administration that helps provide the
path to excellence through its policies.
Look no further than the selection of the institution’s
new president, Paul Prestwich. Not only was the search
conducted in an open and public manner. When the NWC board narrowed candidates
down to a short list, they
invited the public to come meet the candidates in an open and casual forum.
More than a few elected officials in the county and state could take a lesson
from the NWC presidential search.
The board showed respect for the community and a commitment to continuing excellence.
Congratulations to the forensic team. A big congratulations to the college and its board. We owe you much.
