The Message of Hope

If you’re like most of us, cancer has touched your life in one way or another. Either a friend, a loved one, or
maybe even you have faced this insidious disease that respects no one and too often snatches good people too
soon from our midst.

The good news is the science of finding a cure is advancing rapidly. We’ve already made tremendous strides
for treating some forms of cancer. Now, there is real hope for a cure.

Hope is the key word here. Because for all the new medical discoveries and treatments, that intangible element
of ourselves, the human spirit, can often mean the difference between surviving or losing the fight.

Beginning today and for the next several weeks on this page, you will be introduced to a series of local cancer
survivors.

We’re sharing these folks and their stories to inspire hope and to promote a very important event coming to
Powell May 22-25.

“Weekend of Hope” is a first for Powell and will no doubt make a difference in many lives. It’s a series of
entertaining events for the family, centered largely on the Northwest College campus.

More importantly, it can bring us all together and cement the kind of resolve that may well bring a cure.

For where there is hope, there is always a solution.
